Advert Evaluation

During my pre production and idea portfolio it allowed me to see what the positives and negatives are of my advert and work out which one is best to put into production. First poo of all after i had generate my ideas using mind maps i put my ideas onto Facebook to get some audience feedback on what they thought of the ideas. I put this on Facebook as the majority of people i have are teenagers and thats my target audience for all my ideas.  As you can see from my feedback i did not really get much negative advice on my audience research which gave me a insight to maybe all my ideas could work as a advert. To get a real idea of what advert to use i turned to my SWAT analysis. This helped me work out what had the most positives and negatives of my advert. After much debating i decided to make the monster drink advert as it had less risks and was cheaper and easier to make. Also i thought the idea i had would sell the advert well.

My pre production helped me out during the production of my advert. Ive learnt from previous projects that not having your pre production on set really takes its toll on shooting. So this time around i have all my pre production with me on set. I think my shot list helped me out the most. This way i didn't take to long knowing where the camera should be on set and what angle it should be at. This saved me a lot of time during production and helped me stick to my original idea without changing to much.

My advert was nearly exactly the same to my original idea apart from a few shots i added in. It was this way because once i planned it out during the pre production stage i stuck to it, bring the pre production with me during the shoots and looking back through my shot list and notes to know exactly how i wanted it to be. I think this was a good thing to do, as it stuck to my original idea which got good feedback on the audience research which meant it got the attention of its target audience.

I do think my final advert was fit to purpose. I think the choices i made and they i advertise the product were done well. After the production i had a look at the ASA guidelines to airing adverts and i know my advert does not brake any rules when it came to airing the advert. The only one i had to be careful of was the guidelines about not showing obsessive consumption of unhealthy food/drink. To get across this guideline i only show the character take one sip of the drink in the final advert.

I think the techniques i used in my advert were good for the type of product it was. Monster energy are known for being unhealthy but by the techniques i used it looks like the drink will make you more powerful than your friends and make you success in what you do. Also by using runners in the advert it portrays that the drink is healthy for you because the runners are drinking it.
