This is my Evaluation for my music video for the song Little Lion MAn
For this project we were asked to make a music video of a song of our choice we had to do the pre production, production and the post production for the video, i was in a group of 3, it was me, Sam Goodfellow and Karenza Wheatley. We first though of three songs. These 3 were I Predict A Riot by The Kaiser Chiefs, Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and Little Lion Man by Mumford and songs. In the end we chose Little Lion Man because we thought we could make a good video that related to the lyrics of the songs. The lyrics are about regret and mistakes so i video took on this theme.
In the production of the video i was one of the actors who played the main boy in the video, Sam was the director and Karenza was the camera operator and a actor. Although throughout the production we got to have ago on the camera and all our ideas were took on board by the director ( Sam ). My Responsibilities were to perform what the director wanted and also to follow the stage directions on the script, i also had to make sure i was dressed in the right cloths which were on the call sheet.
The first thing we had to do before any filming was to do the pre production work for our video, we had to do a storyboard, proposal, treatment, call sheet, shoot list, risk assent, actors contract, script and reece checklist. This is all to plan for the production and to know what your doing and when for when you come to filming the video. We each did different things for the pre production by all had input on all the paperwork. We made a Schedule to know what each of us are doing and to know when we had to do it by, this way we would get finished in time.
When we had got all the paper work finished for the pre production we were ready to start filming, we filmed on a weekend in 2 locations, The woods and the directors house, due to the call sheet we knew where we had to be and what time. In the morning of the shoot before we starting shooting we looked around our location to find the best spot to film due to where the sun was, These are some picture of trying to find a good shot, we took pictures so we knew what it looked like through a lens before we started filming.
It took us a whole day to film our video and then we could start the post production. We all had input in the post production taking turns to edit different parts of the video. One of the things i think we done really well was the flashbacks. During our video there are lots of flashbacks of the boys life, to show this was a flashback we would have a fade in to the clips and also change the lighting of the clips, below is 2 images one of the normal clip and the other a edit version to make it look like a flashback.

One of the main problems we had was when it come to editing we found out we didn't film enough good footage for the video, we overcome this by reacting a few clips in the video and shortning the song a bit and even though the video looks good and we are happy with it we have defiantly learnt that next time we need to film more footage. Another problem we had was when we tried to upload the video to youtube or extract from final cut it would come out with the wrong clip in one of the sections in the video that wasn't there in the editing software, in the end we had to screen record this certain clip and add into to a different sequence to final cut pro then add it into the final project. We had a couple of issues which were out of our control one was when we were filming in the woods sometimes the public walked by which ruined the shot so we had to start over, another problem out of our control was the camera, due to a overload of requests at the college to get a camera there was not enough camera we where lucky enough to get one due to a cancelation. The camera was good but the quality wasn't what we hoped it would be, next time we will book the equipment we need earlier.
In conclusion i thought the final product turned out better than i thought it would be, we all worked well as a group and all our ideas put together made a good video. If we had to do this project again i would defiantly film more footage as it will be easier when it come to the editing and make sure the equipment is booked earlier. If i don't do this the editing will be made harder and the quality will be less as it should be

I think one thing we done well was work as a team and were organised, we all knew when to be on set and what time and what to wear and to act ect .. We all took each others ideas in and everyones full input went into this project, everyones ideas were took on board by the director and we filmed several scene but differently because we tried ever ones ideas out even if it didn't work in the end. If we didn't work as a team and weren't organised then we would not of known what we were doing and it would of been one persons work instead of a combined effort. Due to the sun in one scene we had to change the shot but we used this as a strength because we filmed from lots of different angels so we had a number of angels and options to put into the final video. Another strength we had was we all had experience before in filming videos, Karenza has filmed some of her own music videos for youtube, and myself and Sam both did GCSE media studies and also have made short films for youtube we altogether gave us quit a bit of experience when it come to shooting our video. Another strength we had was a bit of editing we come up with, after the first chorus of the song there is a fast instrumental bit, during this part of the song we thought it would be good if the visuals linked in with the audio so we put together a section where we had really fast cuts showing different parts of the boys life. This worked as it went with the music whereas if you had a clip with no cuts it would of felts slow with the music, another bit of editing we done well is where there is a scene of the boy and the girl next to the tree then the camera goes round the tree to show the boy just imagining it, to show this we used lighting again making the flashback lighter and making the present day darker.
