Video presentation editing

un chien andalou - shows eye then cuts to the razor going through the eye, this is eisenstien theory of montage it is rhythmic montage because the next shot you see of the eye we automatically presume it is the eye we saw in the pervious shot, the whole film is shot very slowly even the eye scene.

The texas Chainsaw Massacre - There is a scene where leather face chainsaws a man who is in a wheelchair, again this uses rhythmic montage as you see a shot of the guy in the wheelchair then it cuts to a shot of behind leather face as he waves his chainsaw but we automatically think he is actually killing the men due to the editing of the clips, this is faster edited than Un chien andalou but still is slow compare to the things we see today.

Treatment for music video

Treatment for the Little Lion Man Music video

Storyline

The Storyline for our music video for the song Little Lion man is about a boy who is shown riding his bike towards the woods, as he reaches the woods he gets of his bike and walks into the woods. While this is happening in the music video it will show flashbacks of the boys past, where his relationship is destroyed by his gambling and alcohol addiction. Our music video will also show the boy being abusive towards his girlfriend. It will then go back to the woods scene and show the boy regretting his choices he has made in his past, the climatic last few seconds of the video will show that the boy has taken his own life. This will be shown from the boys dangling legs implying he has hung himself.

Outline of script

Our script for the Little Lion Man music video will only cover about one and a half pages and it won't contain any dialogue. The reason that this is such a short script is because for a music video we do not need any dialogue as the song covers the sound aspect. Therefore this gets rid of a lot of script pages. So all our script will include is the stage direction as to whether we will be filming inside or outside as well as the location and what time of day-. The script will also include 'CUT TO:'s in which it will indicate to us where we will cut the recording.

Size and content

The video will run for approximately 3 minutes as this is how long the song lasts for and this is the pace we would like our music video to go at. The working title for the video is Little Lion Man and will only feature two actors throughout the video. However in various continuity shots a third actor may be required for a cameo role. There are three of us in the production group so we can all take an acting role if necessary.

Estimated cost of production

The cost of our production will be nil as we are using a camera from college and the props we are using will be our own, also the actors are friends or ourselves so therefore there is no need to pay anyone. Because this is a student project an expectation for money to be involved is not present therefore we will purely focus on the visuals and our creative ideas to make the video as best as possible. Travel costs will also not be necessary either because we will walk to both locations as they are nearby to where we live.

Contingency plan

When we start filming various problems could occur throughout the day which could cause us to stop filming altogether and could put pressure on the project. Something which could happen is that it could rain and this is a problem for filming outside because in the outside scenes it needs to be sunny so to set up our mise-en-scene successfully. As well as that it could also damage our equipment, therefore if it does rain we will postpone the outdoor scene and we will film all the indoor scenes. Another problem which could occur throughout the day is that the camera could run out of battery or we could run out of space on the tape which we will record in. So to make sure the camera does not run out of battery we will bring three batteries so we have enough power. We will also pack an extra tape so that if we run out of room on the tape we will have another we can with an extra amount of memory.

Talent

Our music video will not use any main acting talent, instead we will use either friends to act in it or if that is not accessible we will act in it ourselves.  The music video is going to have two separate looks. Part of the music video will be in the present day and we will have a sort of grainy look so to show the breakdown of the boys life and the second part of the music video will be in the form of flashbacks as to what the boy has done for his life to go so bad. This will look a bit lighter and it will be blurrier so to imply that these are flashbacks.
