Idents
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgRo40FBAU8
This is the first ident I looked at. It is for the channel BBC Three and was released in 2012. It is a Olympic themed ident with a mix of humor and information. It has a running length of 30 seconds, which is slightly longer than most idents, but as BBC Three don’t have adverts it doesn’t feel that long. I think they used this ident to promote the Olympics and also inform that the Olympics will be shown on their channel. The normal types of programs that are shown on BBC Three are comedy’s that are normal aimed at teenagers, that’s why I think they use a silly comedy element to the ident to appeal to teenagers which is their target audience.

The ident above was made in 2008, it shows a range of people bungeeing from the sky this then blends into a shot of birds on a tree truck. The ident has bright colours when the birds are shown, representing the summer time. The five people bungeeing are different in their look/gender, showing that the audience is a different range of people. BBC threes target audience is usual teenagers, but with this ident it doesn't seem to be target at them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F- uoXMG_a2I

From looking at the BBC three indents i think they change them to whats big at the moment, for example if a big event is happening like the world cup they will have a ident related to it to advertise that the big event will be shown on that certain channel

The second ident I looked at was the scrapyard ident for channel 4. Channel 4 are known for having programs for everyday people to drams to documentary’s. Most of their programs the everyday person can relate to. That’s why I think in this ident they mix reality with surrealism with the special effects they use to make the number 4 in the scrapyard.

Channel 4 are known for making the number four with everyday objects in their indents. With the use of cleverly placed objects and special effects they create a ident who which is easy on the eye and engages people with the cleverly placed objects to create the number four. This is a ident which will stick in peoples minds and is advertising their own channel.    By using the same type of ident but with different locations it keeps the viewer engaged with the ident but also keeps its signature channel 4 look and feel.

ttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqNY-Bmq_G0
The last ident I looked at is from Sky at starts at 30 seconds into the link. The ident gives information to parents about parental guidance on your skybox. Sky has adult channels that kids can easily access if parental guidance is not on. This ident gives parents information about parental guidance and also used to reassure parents that sky is safe for kids to watch. It starts out with police sirens going round the Sky logo I think this is used to grab people attention to the ident and also get across the idea that parents can police the things that their kids can watch. At the end of the ident a light is turned on and children’s TV/Film characters appear to show that sky looks after what the children see and had stuff for all ages to watch. They want to seem family friendly to viewers as they want to keep their image as a company that has something to watch for everyone

With sky every time they have a new package out / deals they will make a ident for it. For example they have indent for the sky disney channel. This ident is shown through one cut with the camera going through a animated street while showing some of the most well known disney characters / films. By doing this they persuade their audience to buy the sky Disney package as it looks like the disney movie channel will have all these famous films included. I think it appeals mainly to children as they will know all the characters feature. This will encrouge the kids to ask the parents to purchase the sky movies package which intern mean more money for sky. This theme runs through most sky idents , Showing amazing content you can gain by purchasing a certain package.

http://www.skeletonproductions.com/corporate-video-production

The corporate video i will be looking at and comparing to my own website is Skeleton productions, this is a production company that makes corporate videos for companies seeking them.

The first thing that stands out on this website is the green thumb nail on the playable video, this stands out against the grey background and instantly intrigues future employers. The video on the home page is a showreel on some of the work the production companies have done for business. This gives a insight into some of the qualities that have when coming to make a corporate video. It also has a short quick paragraph explaining what sets them apart from other companies out there using quotes such as 'Our work is cutting edge of what's possible with video' to set them apart and make them look like top dog when it comes to corporate video making.

Also on the homepage we have there contact information and a link to download a pricing brochure, this is all crucial information for someone interested in using them. Also along side the bottom of the playable video it has links to social media websites were you can get in intouch with the company. This is a very inportant thing now in the day and age we live in, everybody using social media to link with each other in the industry.

The website is very easy and simple to navigate around with just a few options  on the tab bar located at the top of the webpage. The second page on the website is showing all the different types of work they have done and showing you the range of videos they can provide a service for. This opens the companies range of business they can work for by provide services such as training videos, animation , web videos etc..

Other features include is a full break down of what the company will do when hired to make a video. This is a nice feature that are not on many corporate video company websites. Businesses will like this feature as they will trust the company that they are prepared and know what they are doing. This is a wise move by the production company as it makes them look well organised which is what a future employer is looking for.

The home page to my site is quit similar to the one i have looked back but has slight differences. The name of my production company is located at the top of the page and is shown in the colour blue. I chose this colour as it is the lightest on the page and sticks out instantly getting my company to jump out at the client. I also choose it to try and get across the messages that my company is one of kind by only use my company name in that certain colour.  Underneath the title i have to the tab bar, which will allow my audience to guide themselves through the website easily, I chose to put these in Adobi Heti font as i didn't want to make the font to cartoonish which may turn off important companies, also i wanted the site to be extremely simple to use and not confusing so the audience feel welcome. Right in the middle of the page i have my showreel. Showing some of the best bits of work i have achieved over the past couple of years. I think it was important to put this on the homepage as i want my work the be the first thing the audience see and not contact information ext., I think this is the best choice as once the client has watched this video it might make them more aware of what the company does and to make them decide if this is the company they want to go with to make their video.
As soon as they finished watching the video they will see a short paragraph undeath it just introducing them to my company, it will read 'Here at MDF productions we strive upon pleasing our client and getting the exact vision you expect for your business. We are reliable production company who are happing to take on any challenge. If your interesting in us making a video for you company or just have any questions please dont hesitate to call us on 01277 12322.'. I think by using this short paragraph it will engage the audience into the website. I try to remain friendly but also Formal at the same time to show we are a serious company when it comes to our work, but we will be friendly and work closely with the client to make their vision come to life.

On the home screen their is a video which is playable to viewers which shows off some of the best work the company have achieved. The video starts out showing the companies logo and the tag line 'video worth sharing' this is all while some very uplifting music is playing in the background. The logo is against a white backgrounded, while the text on the screen is green and black in colour. This makes it visually striking and stands out on the screen. By doing this they keep the audience intrigued and not turned of by a dull looking logo. The video shows lots of products and business they have created work for. Starting of with a fridge, they draw your attention straight to the fridge by having just a black background while have the fridge as the only other thing on your screen it draws your attention straight to it. They made filming a simple product look like a film, which is a convention of corporate videos as they want to make the product/businesses look as important as possible to draw the audience to the specific business. Another convention which they use in the showreel is lots of fast cuts, they use this to get in as much of there work as possible but most importantly to keep the audience engaged, if they are going to be watching the same video (such as the fridge ) they are going to turn off and get board quickly if there isn't lots of cuts made. Customer opinions are also important, this shows the employee that they are reliable and will do the work you are paying them for, persuading them to choose this specific production company.

I think my own production company will have a similar visual style when making my first corprate  video which is for a local tennis club. I want to make the place look like a exciting place to play a energetic sport. I think i will do this by first using very fast cuts to try and get the fast pace feel of the game across to the audience. If i use slow cuts it might make the sport look boring and turn of the interest of the audience. After the fast cuts i want to show how good the club looks with slow landscape shots of the club house and courts. I will also have interviews included in my video of the head coach telling them what the club offers. Using interviews help the audience think that they are speaking to them and including them, and also club members feedback of what they thought of the club. By doing the members feedback included in the video it will make the audience feel like that this is a reliable club that young people can come to and have a good time.

The pricing on this website is set upon your personal requests, If you want there pricing broacher which shows your their average pricing range you have to request one via email. Normaly for most production companies there prices are set for how long and how good the business want it to be. For example they can go for the cheeper option, which will mean that the production company may only film for one day which means it might not show the best part of your company and might not get the best shots available for the video. Likewise if they want the best quality and work out of the production company, they will have to be there for a longer period of time which will mean it will be a more expensive package.  The Staff working for the proaction company are talked about on the about us page on the website. It uses persuasive language such as ' We employ the best talent, to make sure our client's needs and visions are fulfilled.
On my website the pricing will be slightly different than normal. I will still base the prices around the employes request but it will be cheeper than a normal production company as i am just starting up in this field. Due to this i went have high end equipment to shoot with but they will get a reliable proaction company at a much cheeper price.

On the website i am looking at there is no terms and condition page on the website. I  am not sure why this is but there is a about us page which does have some information that would feature on a Terms and Conditions page. This might put up some higher up business as they don't know exactly what the company might do when recording the video. They do have a privacy policy though which states that without consent they will not hand on any information onto 3rd parties. This reassures the business hiring them that all information about their business will be kept secret.
On my website i will have a privacy policy stating that. All information sent via email or meeting will then be forwarded to a 3rd party to check through.

There is a number of ways the website i am looking at engages with the audience. One of the ways is the colour scheme. It has a white background, while the logo is in green and black. This contrast creates a striking effect on the audiences eye forcing them to draw their attention straight to the companies logo. They do this because the want the company name to stand out in the audiences mind. For my website i chose to put my company name in blue against a white background for the same reason. Another thing mine and the Skelton productions do on the homepage is to have our showreel on. This sticks out to the audiences as the thumb nail of the video is a light picture compare to the dark colour of the text on the page. This will interest the audience and will make them want to watch it. Now you have them watching your work which will hopefully get them to go with your company to make the video.

To get the right image for the video i will need to write a client brief which are a questions i am going to ask the business/company to get to know exactly what they want to promote themselves.

How many videos do you want made ?
How many days do you want us to film?
Is there specific times/dates you want us to film?
Do you want interviews including in the video?
Do you want music included in the video ( If copyrighted you will have to pay for the rights)
How long do you wish the video to be?
Where do you want the video to be shown ?
Is there any specific equipment you want us to use ?

Advert Evaluation

During my pre production and idea portfolio it allowed me to see what the positives and negatives are of my advert and work out which one is best to put into production. First poo of all after i had generate my ideas using mind maps i put my ideas onto Facebook to get some audience feedback on what they thought of the ideas. I put this on Facebook as the majority of people i have are teenagers and thats my target audience for all my ideas.  As you can see from my feedback i did not really get much negative advice on my audience research which gave me a insight to maybe all my ideas could work as a advert. To get a real idea of what advert to use i turned to my SWAT analysis. This helped me work out what had the most positives and negatives of my advert. After much debating i decided to make the monster drink advert as it had less risks and was cheaper and easier to make. Also i thought the idea i had would sell the advert well.

My pre production helped me out during the production of my advert. Ive learnt from previous projects that not having your pre production on set really takes its toll on shooting. So this time around i have all my pre production with me on set. I think my shot list helped me out the most. This way i didn't take to long knowing where the camera should be on set and what angle it should be at. This saved me a lot of time during production and helped me stick to my original idea without changing to much.

My advert was nearly exactly the same to my original idea apart from a few shots i added in. It was this way because once i planned it out during the pre production stage i stuck to it, bring the pre production with me during the shoots and looking back through my shot list and notes to know exactly how i wanted it to be. I think this was a good thing to do, as it stuck to my original idea which got good feedback on the audience research which meant it got the attention of its target audience.

I do think my final advert was fit to purpose. I think the choices i made and they i advertise the product were done well. After the production i had a look at the ASA guidelines to airing adverts and i know my advert does not brake any rules when it came to airing the advert. The only one i had to be careful of was the guidelines about not showing obsessive consumption of unhealthy food/drink. To get across this guideline i only show the character take one sip of the drink in the final advert.

I think the techniques i used in my advert were good for the type of product it was. Monster energy are known for being unhealthy but by the techniques i used it looks like the drink will make you more powerful than your friends and make you success in what you do. Also by using runners in the advert it portrays that the drink is healthy for you because the runners are drinking it.

Pre Production for Advert

Treatment
The product i have chosen to advertise out of my three choices was the monster energy drink. I choose this one due to a number of reasons. Firstly my audience research was mixed and people went for all three, which didn't really help me on what one to choose but it did help me to know that all three of my ideas could work. The next thing that helped me to selected the idea was the SWAT analysis this a helpful way of side by side comparison of each advert and what the strengths and weaknesses were. I personally think the Monster advert had the best benefits out strengths out of the chosen ideas.

Synopsis

The storyline for my advert will involve 2 Actors who are going on a run together. One of them suddenly becomes out of breathe and has to stop to get his energy back. The 2nd runner gets a Monster Energy drink out of his backpack and hands it to the 1st runner who drinks it. He then suddenly takes off, with all his energy back he goes running while the 2nd runner struggles to keep up. At the end of the advert the running will hold up the drink to the camera and say the tag line. Ive chose this certain story line as i think it will advertise what the drink is well known for - Energy. Using a very popular activity such as running to advertise the drink i think will work well to show the energy the drink try to provide.

Outline of script

The script for my chosen advert will only be about one and a half pages long. This is due to the fact there is not going to be much dialogue in my advert. The reasons for this is because the advert is only 30 seconds long and only has a few lines of dialogue. The majority of the script will be actions and movements the characters are making through out the scene, The script will also include 'CUT TO:'s in which it will indicate to me where i will cut the recording.

Size and content

The advert will run for approximately 30 seconds, this is the average advert length as they have a time limit in-between the programs advert break which they must get right. If you have a advert that is longer than this normally the audience will switch off and find it boring, therefore not selling the product well. The working title for my advert is The Caged Beast but this could change during production/post production.

Estimated cost of production

The cost of this production will be approximately £2.00. This will be because the cost of the monster drink is £1.00 but we want to get two, just incase we loose one, or we need one for another shot. We won't be needing to pay for cameras or equipment as i am using my own camera and if i need equipment like microphones and can rent them from college for free. Also the actors i am using are friends of mine and not expecting to get paid for their work on the project. The other thing that is keeping the cost down is travel, the location i have chosen to shoot my advert is in walking distances of all the crew and cast involved in the production.

Contingency plan

I have come up with a contingency plan incase of any incidents that may occur that could cause the production to stop. One of the problems that may come up with exterior location we are shooting in is the weather. If we stay out while it is raining it might ruin the equipment or damage it. As there is no indoor scenes in my advert we will just have to postpone the whole shoot until we have the correct weather. Another problem that may occur while out shooting is the battery. To avoid any problem with battery life i am going to charge them all up the night before and also bring 2 spares. I will also bring spare SD cards so we don't run out of filming space.

Talent

I won't be using any talent in my advert instead i will be using friends to act in the advert. I made this decision because it will keep the budget down and also the location is near al my friends. Also unlike a film you don't need great acting to pull of a great advert.

Shot list
Production name = Monster Energy Advert
Created by Matthew Flower

         1. The first shot will be long shot, this shot will be used to introduce the location and also start to see the 2 characters run in on screen

         2. The next couple of shots will cut to the beat of the music, getting closer and closer to the characters eventually getting to a mid shot of them running as the music fades out

         3.  Close up of the boy leaning against the tree, the reason I chose I close up here is to clearly show the boy is out of energy and needs to rest

    4.  Mid shot of the 2nd boy pulling the drink out of his bag

    5.  Close of the passing of the drink. I will use a close up here to clearly show the product and to clearly show what the boy is about to drink

    6.  Close of the boy drinking the drink

     7. The next few shots will be very quick cuts of the boy running after having the drink, I will use a mixture of close ups and mid shots, cut together fast to give the impression of the energy the drink gives you.

     8. The last shot will be a close of the drink and the voice over of the slogan for the product being heard. This will leave the audience the image of the product in their head once the advert is over

The whole advert will be shot at 2 locations that are next to each other
Exterior. The advert will be shoot and take place during the day

As I am filming my whole advert in the same location please see shot list for the list of the shots.

As for the summary it will be the 2 male characters going for a run in the field. I am filming this during the day as to get good lighting for the visuals

The location I am filming in are Little bursted woods and nearby fields. I have used these locations because they are popular spots for runners as they have running footpaths.

The woods will be sheltered by trees so I will have to work on the lighting for this part of the advert to make it look brighter.
2 Males who are runners. One is a very good runner and one is struggling with the run before he has a drink of the product.
The only props I will be using is the actually product itself ( Monster Energy )

I will also be shooting on a Cannon 600D DCLR camera with the clip on RODE mic to record the sound.
